Tuskegee University - Robert R Taylor School of Architecture and Construction Science (2019)
Robert Robinson Taylor (MIT Class of 1892) was the first known black student to enroll at MIT. He is also considered to be the first accredited, academically trained African American architect. In 1892, it was announced that Tuskegee would begin to offer a regular course of instruction in architecture with the program beginning in 1893 under the leadership of Robert R. Taylor, the first African American academically trained architect and MIT's first African American graduate. In 2010, Tuskegee University renamed its College of Engineering, Architecture and Physical Sciences (CEAPS) to the Robert R. Taylor School of Architecture and Construction Science (TSACS).
