Westervelt A. Taylor '27 earned his Bachelor's in Civil Engineering (Course I) from MIT in 1927.

In 1948, Massachusetts-born Taylor became the first African American appointed as Assistant District Attorney in the borough of Queens, New York City, where he also served as president of the United Democrats of Jamaica.
