During the weekend of November 2-4, 2018, the Black Alumni/ae of MIT (BAMIT) hosted the BAMIT Capstone Weekend In honor of the Black Students' Union (BSU) 50th Anniversary, with the theme The Road to 50: The Power of Community.

The "Recollections - Connecting the Past to the Present" panel, moderated by R. Erich Caulfield, SM '01, PhD '06, discussed the history of the BSU with former and current BSU Co-Chairs and Founders: James Turner ‘71, Sam Denard ‘74, Rocklyn Clarke ‘80, Crystal Dixon ‘90, Valarie Thomas ‘92, Louis Fouche ‘07, and Naomi Dereje ‘21.
