Gregory C. Chisholm, SJ '73, SM '75, PhD '89 earned all three of his degrees in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. 

Rev. Chisholm earned all of his degrees in Mechanical Engineering, bachelors to doctorate, from MIT.  After taking temporary leave from his doctoral studies in 1980, he entered the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits) and received the licentiate in sacred theology from Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, MA. In 1993, he was ordained to the priesthood. He has served as pastor at St. Patrick Church in Oakland, CA. He has also taught at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley, CA and at the Jesuit Hekima College in Nairobi, Kenya.  Rev. Chisholm served the Archdiocese of New York by the Society of Jesus before becoming the 13th pastor at the Roman Catholic Church St. Charles Borromeo/Resurrection Chapel in his native Harlem. In 2021, the Archdiocese of New York presented the Pierre Toussaint Medallion to Rev. Chisholm. 

I live among the abandoned, and I know the degree of their isolation from every institution in the country, including Black institutions...Their abandonment is structured by neighborhoods and poverty and joblessness and obesity and parentlessness and drugs and prison and ignorance and violence and police and distance from community. There seems no way out...I believe that the sense of community...includes an identity, understanding, affection and purpose that will not allow the abandoned to remain abandoned."
